Hello all,
Since sept 2003 i am a gentoo linux user and i am very content with this
flavor of linux. Up until xlog 0.9.7 there was no problem to compile the
source of xlog in gentoo linux. But from then on every compile went
wrong. The last version of xlog with an ebuild for gentoo linux is 1.1.
Beginning of april 2005 i have reported this bug to the gentoo
developers. Up until now there is no activity to solve this problem.
I really need xlog for my ham activity's, so i hope someone else is
capable to solve my problem for my gentoo box.
The bug with all the details can be found here:
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88580
I appreciate any comment. Thanks in advance for the help.

Tuen I looked at the bug report and you have a problem at this point
/usr/bin/update-desktop-database
ACCESS DENIED rename: /usr/share/applications/.mimeinfo.cache.cFMjgT
ACCESS DENIED unlink: /usr/share/applications/.mimeinfo.cache.cFMjgT
No directories in update-desktop-database search path could be processed and upd
ated.
Try renaming this file "mv /usr/share/applications/.mimeinfo.cache.cFMjgT
/usr/share/applications/.mimeinfo.cache.cFMjgT.old"
ALL ON ONE LINE AND AS ROOT
check who owns the /usr/share/applications directory and check its permissions.
