hello peter,

i have attached a new version of ac_pkg_swig.m4 with a number of improvements 
made in collaboration with Sebastian Huber <address@hidden>, Alan W. Irwin 
<address@hidden> and Rafael Laboissiere <address@hidden>. we feel that the new 
set of macros are quite a lot better.

there is also a new set in ac_python_devel.m4, which are auxiliary to those 
defined in the automake macro AM_PATH_PYTHON and allow for ready development of 
extension modules and embedding of python.

would you please update the version of ac_pkg_swig.m4 in the autoconf archive 
and add ac_python_devel.m4. many thanks!
