I guess so.  We can also make this two specials.  I think that
!(tightpage)pop
alone should be pretty unlikely to occur unintended...

I have not looked at the history right now.  But it would appear to
identify in the current version `tightpage' in DVI mode.  It is not
pretty.  "safe" is the wrong word for it, I guess, but at least with
the current history there should not be problems.
