Dear Ralf,

many thanks for your assistance. I have recently downloaded the archive from (Our firewall prevented me from accessing the Crasseux site). I will try to re-install emacs, maybe something went wrong there. I will keep you informed on the progress.

This looks suspicious.

Could be a broken Emacs installation.  Do you have a way to
cross-check with one of the pre-compiled versions available from or
