In the design we are currently discussing that's already taken for
enabling the deletion of output files in addition to intermediate
files. But you are right that the behavior of asking a question for
every file is a good candidate for case-by-case activation via a
prefix argument.

Yes, that's what I was thinking about. (Funny, I had to check what
`x' actually does in dired. I usually use `m' and `D'.)
