Ok, I did the obvious workaround and temporarily copied Emacs to
c:\Programme\Emacs to see the effect of M-x TeX-auto-generate-global
RET.  That's a trick!  Quite impressive.  The downside is I've seen
AUCTeX scanning my texmf tree(s?).  That means AUCTeX is a good portion
ahead of me now.  I'm just afraid my next message will be of the kind of
complaint "Why is AUCTeX doing that?  I've never told her to do so!"
That is, I'd still love to see hand-made support for dtk.cls.  But it's
ok for me.

Do you need another bug report for the wrong search path for
Emacs/var/auctex?
