Ok, I am thinking whether it would be a good idea to just fold RefTeX
into the AUCTeX CVS.

I'm all for it.

Personally I'll probably not be able to add new features at the moment
but bug fixing should be possible. And if stuff like version control
is in place it will be easier for potential new developers to chime in.

I think it this would definitely be my preferred solution, you people
are certainly the best caretakers one could think of.

I have one question: RefTeX is part of Emacs, and also of XEmacs.
On the XEmacs side things would be easy - as AUCTeX is part of it
(at least it was last time I checked), we could simply remove
the RefTeX package and install reftex as part of the AUCTeX package.

I am wondering how things would work on the Emacs side. Do you
have a mechanism in place that would occasionally also update the
version of RefTeX in Emacs? And maybe also fold back changes made by other Emacs developers to it (usually small things like typos, and
implementing new conventions they come up with).

Thanks

- Carsten
