Yes, I've seen that.  Ah, now I understand it.  Emacs' completing-read
function works just fine when provided with just a list of strings, but
XEmacs needs an alist.

You're welcome.  Could you provide one and implement the alist2list
conversion in imakeidx.el like suggested in my last mail?  Then I'm
happy to commit.
