document is an environment, so I don't see why you've changed it to
class.

BTW: Do you have an account on savannah.gnu.org already?  If not, go and
get one, and then apply for project membership for AUCTeX.  With your
constant and accurate work, you've proven to be a valuable contributor,
so I'd like to give you push permissions.  Of course, larger changes
should still be discussed here.
