I see.  In GNU Emacs, time-to-seconds is just an alias for float-time.
Does XEmacs have that?

As a curiosity, today I had a record-breaking compilation time: more
than 14ksec (almost 4 hours), and that on a i5 processor and 8 MB RAM
laptop!
