I remember somebody writing it in the Autoconf list. In fact, autoreconf
already uses it, so it's at least as portable as the "maintainer part" of
autoconf, which is a reasonable assumption for the testsuite.

I'll make a separate patch. Of course, _AC_LANG_COMPILER_WORKS will be
fixed as well. I don't want the testsuite to be broken even for a single
second.
