Hi,

there seems to be a misunderstanding.  Let me make it clear:

AC_CONFIG_LINKS(include/kernel/mp-arith.h:interfaces/gmp/mp-arith.h)

Let `interfaces/gmp/mp-arith.h' but not `include/kernel/' exist in the
source tree.  We expect include/kernel/ to be created in the build
tree nevertheless, and this happens, but we get an additional cd error
message which is caused by an attempt to cd to `include/kernel' in the
source tree (in _AC_SRCPATHS).  That is unnecessary.  Could you reread
the posting now?

(BTW, in your counterexample, would you mind creating the source file
first?)
