[I am the Debian maintainer who added that note, after a bug
report requested it.]  In case it isn't clear, the particular
reason that `aux' is warned against is that it is a fairly
obvious choice to name an auxiliary directory `aux'.

Now that I look at it again, I wonder if I should add a sentence
warning against alternate capitalizations: AUX and Aux, etc., are
also reserved under MS-DOS.
