Automake requires the use of [7]Autoconf. [8]Downloading Automake Please note that Automake 1.11.1 and Automake 1.10.3 fix a security issue present in the make dist and make distcheck rules of all packages using Automake. See [9]here for details. GNU Automake can be found on [10]http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/automake/ [via http] and [11]ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/automake/ [via FTP]. It can also be found on one of [12]our FTP mirrors. You can also order a [13]CD-ROM from the FSF or use [14]other methods to obtain a copy. Alpha/beta releases of Automake can be found in [15]ftp://alpha.gnu.org/pub/gnu/automake/, and the latest in-development sources for Automake can always be fetched through git from [16]Savannah. DO NOT use Automake sources from these locations for production use. [17]Documentation The Automake manual can be read [18]on-line or downloaded in [19]PDF format; also, [20]more formats are offered for download or on-line reading. If you have installed Automake on your system, you may also find more information about it by looking at your local documentation; for example you might use info automake at the shell prompt. [21]Mailing Lists Automake has several public mailing lists, each of which is archive. For general Automake discussions, use address@hidden ([23]archives and [24]subscription). If you have a patch for Automake, please send the it to address@hidden ([26]archives and [27]subscription). The HACKING file present in the Automake git repository should explain how to properly prepare, format and post a patch. Bug reports can be emailed to address@hidden ([29]archives and [30]subscription). Before submitting a bug report, please read the [31]Bug Reporting section of the manual. You can subscribe to any Automake mailing list via the associated web interfaces, linked above. Or you can send an empty mail with a Subject: header line of just "subscribe" to the relevant -request list. For example, to subscribe yourself to the bug-automake list, you would send mail to address@hidden with no body and a Subject: header line of just "subscribe". It has been necessary to moderate the GNU Automake mailing lists to prevent the flood of spam. Postings to the lists are held for release by the list moderator. Sometimes the moderators are unavailable for brief periods of time. Please be patient when posting. If you don't see the message in the list archive an hour or so after having sent it, then it did not get posted. [33]Bug Reports For bugs in Automake, please see the [34]Bug Reporting section of the manual. Please send FSF & GNU inquiries to address@hidden There are also [36]other ways to contact the FSF. Please send broken links and other corrections (or suggestions) to address@hidden Please see the [38]Translations README for information on coordinating and submitting translations of this article.
