Wow, this email was like a wakeup call. I forgot I was subscribed to the

I believe, autonomo.us and FSS is even more relevant than before. In the
last 4 years, a lot of things have happened. We have seen vertical web
silos getting even more evil, integrated and closed. Things like
Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Flickr, etc. Between closing API, deleting
accounts, kicking people out because their name doesn't fit an
unenforceable rule, and violating users privacy, things haven't gotten
better.

But good things have happened, with various degrees of success:
MediaGoblin, Status.net, Diaspora, openphoto, BrowseID trying to
fullfill the statements or mission of the FSS.

Non-withstanding things like OpenStack, Freebom box, that are here to
help fullfill the infrastructure needs.

All of this happened and grew out of the users needs.

I believe maybe it is time to realign the FSS with what is current now.
Put autonomo.us in a mission of pushing this border version with
information, advocacy, etc. Maybe it is an opportunity to talk to the
WebFWD folks at Mozilla[1]. See how to facilitate the development of
project, hosting, etc.

I am convinced there is a lot of interest.

Cheers,

Hub

just suggesting.
