Ask address@hidden nicely - if more people ask, hopefully that will
help Atmel make the right decision (open the protocol documentation).
Alternatively, try to reverse-engineer it - it's not that hard
(you need a second box with 2 serial ports to look at the data going
in both directions between the STK500 and the windows software),
and has been done many times in the past, in order to make various
undocumented pieces of hardware work with Linux...
