[avr-gcc-list] Avrora Beta 1.4.0 Released

Hello avr-gcc list readers,

I'd like to post an announcement of relevant interest, if I could.

Avrora Beta 1.4.0 has been released!

This release is a major step forward in the usability and flexibility 
of Avrora. It combines several new features with refinements, bugfixes, 
refactorings, and cleanups for a much more polished simulator.

New in this release:

1. Support for using Avrora as a gdb backend!
2. Energy monitoring and profiling provided by Olaf Landsiedel's 
landmark AEON contribution.
3. Free space radio model and network topology code, also contributed 
by Olaf.
4. Greatly improved simulator output and timing, especially for 
multiple node simulations!
5. Fixes of several bugs related to timing, ports, pullups, complex 
probings, and event handling.
6. Slight performance improvements; as much as 10% over the previous 
release!
7. Improved default profiling monitors.
8. Refined and updated website, including a new FAQ section, sections 
on extending Avrora, and greatly simplified instructions for installing 
and getting up to speed with Avrora.
9. Refactored internal software architecture for more flexibility.
10. Improved JavaDOC.
11. Improved testsuite and testing harness. It is now possible to build 
regression test suites with Avrora for your application!
12. Improved command line options and help system.
13. Deprecated the legacy interpreter (in favor of faster and more 
stable generated interpreter).
14. Improved flexibility through the use of ClassMaps and Java 
reflection--you can extend Avrora in many ways without modifying any of 
its code!

Overall, this release focuses on many usability aspects. We hope that 
it can reach a larger audience, and that it can aid you better in your 
every day tasks.
