Hi Alex,
sorry for late answer.
At www.lcd-module.de you will find a new series of alphanumeric LCD
displays called "DOG-Series".
On the 2x16 and the 3x16 you can combine 2 lines to 1 line with double
height characters. Of course there will remain a gap between the upper
and the lower half. The controller is ST7036, it can do this by
hardware.
