When building your toolchain.
Now i think you might have installed the "Ubuntu repos version" of avr-gcc.
And that usually doesn't get the latest patches from the "FreeBSD repos".
Have a look here for building a toolchain , based on the current FreeBSD
patches.

Or maybe get the same as a .deb package from here (make sure that
/usr/local/avr , doesn't exist)
