[avrdude-dev] freebsd & butterfly programmer

Hello list,
i still have a problem with avrdude on FreeBSD 5.3-Stable, 
when i try to program my butterfly with
$ avrdude -p atmega169 -P /dev/cuaa0 -c butterfly -V -U flash:w:main.hex
avrdude hangs.

Do i need to configure my serial port?
I tried it already, with stty, but it wasnt successful.
I can connect to my butterfly with "tip com1 -n 19200", so it is properly 
connected.
