As Bob Paddock wrote:>Is Windows a requirement for that machine? The Unix systems I've >seen don't suffer from this issue (Linux, FreeBSD, IIRC also >Solaris). The IT department here has stated: "Linux is nothing but a toy", obviously a victim of Micro$oft Brain Washing. Its either Windows or work on Resume (anyone want a copy?).Then why don't you let the IT department solve that problem? >:-)
Ever week or two they reset the test machine's COM port number back to four,
but they keep blaming my hardware for causing the problem. I just let them keep doing, and not worry about, but I would like to be able to stop it from happening on my development machine. They don't allow anyone but themselves to have Administrator Rights. Tough to develop Windows products that way. :-(
(They could still use Solaris, or one of the BSDs if they really think Linux were a toy.)
Does not mater, if it is not Windows to them it is nothing but a "Toy", there is nothing but Windows in the world, not even Macs... :-<
