Follow-up Comment #3, bug #41064 (project avrdude):

I agree - don't break user code (unnecessarily). So changing the description
would be the preferable solution.

(I had the same problem as Ivan, but I didn't even realize it is a bug. I just
assumed a made a mistake.)
