Ok, the checks for xft were quite strange, I commited some changes in CVS.
You now need Xft 2 (and Xft-devel). (and need to ./gen again, changes are
in configure.in).
It works on my linuxppc and redhat 8.
Just a thing, be sure to run fc-cache (as root) if no fonts.cache-1 exist
in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts. Else the caches will be generated when yattm
opens a chat window, and it'll seem to hang (very long). These caches
should exist on distros like rh8 or mdk9.
