the -devel packages are all installed too. they are in the right
directories and i did do a ./configure again.
actually it was a 'downgrade'. from 2.1.3 (i got the src.rpm from
rpmfind.net) to 2.0.9 the default packages that come with mdk9. now
rpmfind.net doesn't have the 2.1.3 src.rpm anymore, so can't really 'go
back' and see what went wrong. since it's a problem at this end, i'll
work it out.
