The error message comes from the FFmpeg libraries. I don't know what
"error number -5" means, either. FFmpeg moves to more meaningful error
messages, but this takes time...

So this is either a Windows/Linux portability problem, or a problem of
different FFmpeg versions.
Which FFmpeg version do you use on Windows and Linux (bino --version or
GUI->Help->About->Libraries)?
Does ffplay on Windows play the stream? (ffplay is included in FFmpeg;
there should be precompiled versions available somewhere).
Is the stream public (i.e., can I test this myself)?
