Zoom has only an effect if the video is wider than the screen, for
example if you play 16:9 video on a 4:3 screen.
In this case, there are two possibilities:
(1) Show the whole width of the video. This requires black bars at the
top and bottom.
(2) Use the whole height of the screen. This means that the left and
ride side of the video are not visible anymore.
The zoom setting allows a compromise between (1) (zoom = 0) and (2)
(zoom = 1).
If the video is not wider than the screen, and thus fits completely on
the screen while using the full screen height, then (1) and (2) are the
same and the zoom setting has no effect at all.
Maybe this feature should be renamed since it does not actually allow
arbitrary zooming of video content.
