I tried contacting the last maintainer of perl.ssh (Denis Girou) with
this problem but didn't hear back.
It takes about 22.5 hours of CPU time on a 2.2Ghz Pentium4 for perl.ssh
to process the following regular expression:
s/[^\w\.\s\|\,\'\<\>\?\;\:address@hidden&\*\(\)\/\?\{\}q]
//g;
I'm fairly sure the problem is in perl.ssh, as I've made minor changes
to perl.ssh and the time to process drops to under 1 second. Also
selecting another style sheet is equally as fast.
I filed a bug report with RedHat, who seemed to agree there was a
problem but didn't know the appropriate fix:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=252183
OS: RedHat Enterprise Linux 4
a2ps version: a2ps-4.13b
perl.ssh version: 2.11
