Is that a CVS version or the pretest tarball? I just compiled a CVS
version and doing `C-c C-c LaTeX RET' works just fine. Perhaps
something went wrong during the build process?

It probably depends upon you preferring to deal with known bugs which
likely won't be fixed or with bugs you don't know but which will
likely get fixed if you report them. I'm likely updating more often
than you and I've been encountering bugs in CVS Emacs _very_ seldom.
