Less succinctly: if the package do not have a test suite I see
no point in setting MALLOC_CHECK_ during distcheck (as built
programs won't be run anyway), if the package has a test suite I
find better to set MALLOC_CHECK_ during `make check' as it
means it will run more often (not only during distcheck).
Unfortunately, it turns out that MALLOC_CHECK_ can output
false positives hppa, so it's not harmless :(
