BTW, I just realized that with such a scheme, if some of the
/usr/share/alocal/*.m4 files contains an AC_PREREQ, it will
apply even to packages that do not use the macro.
Maybe we should also fight for AC_PREREQ to be used *inside*
macros. Fortunately this seems less common. I only have two
of these on my system:
glib-gettext.m4
uintmax_t.m4
(plus many in Automake's own macros)
