IMHO this is what should happen when you --force-missing. The
name of this option says it all.
Ok. Then I suggest changing the documentation to warn that
--force-missing actually always installs the current automake version,
even if the user's current version is newer. Right now it is silent
about that.
nice that --add-missing alone (or maybe this should be
--update-missing) check versions or contents.
Yes, it would be nice to have an option that updates whatever is older.
