Yes, could you please cd to automake-1.9.6/tests after the
failure and run:
env -e VERBOSE=x TESTS="gettext.test gettext2.test ldadd.test ldflags.test \
libobj13.test libtool.test libtool2.test libtool3.test \
libtool5.test libtool6.test libtool7.test libtool8.test \
listval.test ltcond.test ltcond2.test ltconv.test \
ltdeps.test ltlibobjs.test ltlibsrc.test nobase.test \
pr72.test pr211.test pr300-ltlib.test pr307.test reqd2.test \
stdlib2.test subcond.test subobj9.test suffix2.test \
suffix5.test suffix8.test suffix10.test" make -e check
Then please post the output. It might be better to compress it
before posting.
OTOH, attaching the 1.0MB rpm to the bug report was not a
good idea.

It might be clear from the output of the command quoted
above. Perhaps you might be able to fix some of the
problems before you send the updated message?
(In that case please remove the fixed tests from the list.)
Have a nice day,
