Yes, firstly I "paid for" set -o emacs, and I want my money's worth.
Did I do set -o microemacs?
Secondly, consider:
$ bla bla ....
and it's running off the edge of my screen.
Who're you gonna call, ghostbusters?
ESC SPC here really hits the spot. I bet you can't come up with
something shorter.
Thirdly, there's people looking at what I type, not just the shell.
