It doesn't. As a matter of fact, we do have proto-patches that will
certainly help us, but I never had enough time to address this issue
(that I considered as lower priority since that's just annoying, not
really problematic). See on Google (sorry, I don't have the web

The latest version I have is included in his message. Florian had
signed all the FSF papers, but finally lacked time to finish what he
was on.

That's the very long term goal, and has to be done from M4, not
Bison. This is not our goal currently. Bison still has to make a lot
of progress in other areas.
