It works, I don't know what your problem is:

/tmp % /usr/bin/bison via.y                                       nostromo 11:55
/tmp % wc -l via.tab.c                                            nostromo 11:55
   1167 via.tab.c
/tmp % /usr/bin/bison --version                                   nostromo 11:55

Beware that when running bison some/path/to/file.y, 1.35 used to
output in some/path/to, while 1.50 outputs in ".".
