[bug-classpath] [Bug classpath/23212] New: java.util.regex.Pattern doesn't implement Java 1.4 escape sequences

The Pattern class doesn't handle many of the escape sequences defined for Java 
regular expressions such as \uhhhh to define the character with hexadecimal 
value 0xhhhh. Please see
