Looks like it's actually BusyBox:

> fgrep --version
fgrep: unrecognized option `--version'
BusyBox v1.01 (2005.10.12-08:48+0000) multi-call binary

Installed a 'real grep' and problem solved. Obviously the BusyBox version
a little too limited.
