The problem is that the implementation of java.util.Formatter is incomplete
(see http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=32809 ).

Development of GNU Classpath has slowed down a lot since the release of
OpenJDK/IcedTea so you'll likely have to implement the missing parts yourself
if you need them.
