Thus far, my excitement over Lucy has just been building and building as

Universal gives us trailers, clips and even a featurette on some of the

locations that were used in filming.

So when I heard that a new extended clip titled “Surgery” w
as released, I

couldn’t wait to see what new scene Luc Besson would tease us with.
 However,

after watching, I actually am starting to have some misgivings, and can only

hope that there will be a little more to the movie than just the title

character running around shooting everything that moves.

The clip is an extended version of something that we saw in that very first

trailer; Lucy, having escaped her captors, takes a gun to a hospital in ord
er

to force the surgical staff to remove the drugs planted in her abdomen. It 
was

a seriously impressive scene in the trailer, and I do love seeing the exten
ded

version. However, this now makes the majority of the clips and trailers

basically all about Lucy running around putting bullets into everything and

everyone.

There was more of a balance in the original theater trailer – lots 
of running

and jumping and shooting, sure, (it is an action film, after all!), but the
re

was also a lot of Morgan Freeman talking about the “science��
� of it, Lucy

looking for help, some emotional moments and generally a good mix of action
 and

plot. It’s one of the reasons that I was interested from the get-go
; I like my

action movies with some real character depth as well as fight scenes and

explosions.
