Actually I knew that it was reported, but didn't know how it was fixed
and got curious.

   Such a problem wouldn't have made it into a major release if I had
   access to a Hurd system for pre-release testing.  Can you help with
   that?

There should be an FSF machine that runs the Hurd from what I know,
you might want to get in touch with Jeff Bailey and see what he has to
say about that.  Or you could setup one your self at home/work, but
that depends on your options (spare box, time, etc).
