As I mentioned in another note, I'll implement this by the evening of
Monday, October 13th, unless someone else takes it on first. So, if
someone else takes it on, please drop me a line so that I don't waste time
doing something you're doing.

it would still be *nice* if GNU hostname did not trigger
any breakage in such non-portable scripts. And it would be nice if
GNU hostname supported both the -s/--short and -f/--fqdn options, so
that it would not enforce policy, but rather let admins decide for
themselves which form to use - i.e., the long form. :)
