Agreed that an ultimate fix in tcsh would be nicer. I posted my patch as
documentation of a workaround, which can be used by distros or users
compiling coreutils themselves when used in conjunction with an unpatched
tcsh. So I am happy with your position on not applying the patch to the
official CVS sources on the expectation that tcsh will clean up their act.
