error in date command

Hi,

According to the man page, /bin/date +%x should report the date in the following format: mm/dd/yy

However, when run in bash the command above reports the date in the following format: mm/dd/yyyy

I have been calling a bash script in through cron, which reports the date as it should. So why would running the command in bash be different?

My machine:
Fedora Core release 4 (Stentz) x86_64
Kernel 2.6.15
coreutils-5.2.1-48
bash-3.0-31

Please cc me in the response, I am not currently subscribed to the mailing list. Thanks!

Cheers,
Adam Miller
