Hello,
I should probably have reported this earlier. Somewhere in the transition from Redhat 7.2 to the current Fedora Core 3, a bug cropped up that I found a work-around for and thus ignored until switching to a new computer (and home directory): On a default install, using Gnome's gnome-terminal, the file listing tool ls shows files in various colors according to the /etc/DIR_COLORS file. In this file, directories are supposed to be displayed in bold and blue. For some reason the bold aspect is being omitted. If a user copies the /etc/DIR_COLORS file to ~/.dir_colors and then relogs back into the system, the directories are properly displayed in bold (which also makes them brighter and easier to read). I also tested this using Konsole and found a similar effect. Although Konsole uses bold for all the fonts, the text has the brightness associated with being bolded if the user has a .dir_colors file, and the brightness does not exist if it is absent.

System Info:
IBM Thinkpad running Fedora Core release 3 (Heidelberg)
I am using Gnome, and this is occuring in the gnome-terminal
Gnome terminal version 2.7.3

Also occuring in Konsole
Konsole version 1.4.1

Hopefully I'm sending this to the right place - www.gnu.org doesn't have an obvious link to any sort of Bugzilla tracking system for these utilities.

Sincerely,
Carl Anderson
