the default behavior of cpio is to extract archives with absolute
pathnames ... some feel [1] that having this as the default is a bad idea and
proposed patches [2] to change cpio to extract with relative paths by default
but allow for absolute pathnames via a new parameter

i really dont care either way, but i'd prefer to keep cpio behavior as close
as possible to how upstream wants
so the question is, will the default behavior of extracting with absolute
paths be retained since it's always been like that ?
