NEW NURSING DISCUSSIONS

Join all the discussions going on in our new forums.

Floating
I have a concern about being floated to specialty areas, which I have no specialty training in. I am an ICU nurse, and when our census is low, we get pulled. However, when my supervisor tried to send me to the psychiatry unit, I refused on the basis that I have had no orientation, or training. Any thoughts or suggestions?

THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: I have a dilemma here. There is a new Director of Nursing Service at the Long Term facility where I work. I feel that she is snobbish and has an attitude. I also feel that she looks down on employees. Although I am a young woman, I feel like telling administration but I feel that they won't believe me. Several of my co-workers feel the same way. What should I do? I don't want to quit but this is driving me crazy. I like my job and don't what to leave because of her. Please help!
