Hello -
I hope this is the right place to ask this question; if not, please direct me
to
the appropriate place.
I wish to use the fileutils in a classified environment to transfer data
between
computers and removable media.
In order to do this is is important that cp (and any related utilities) copy
only the specified files without padding partial blocks with other data from
the
source filesystem (padding with a constant such as zero would be fine).
As an example, if a number of classified files (filesc) and an unclassified
file
(fileu) reside on the same disk, a cp of fileu to a floppy disk should never
include any parts of filesc.
Are cp and friends safe in this regard?
Thanks!
keith
