cannot build gdb-6.2 from source code on GNU/Linux

Hello,

I get a strange silent error trying to build gdb-6.2
on my GNU/Linux system.

$ uname -a
Linux pc02 2.6.14 #1 Sun Oct 30 06:08:03 CET 2005 i686
unknown unknown GNU/Linux

$ libtool --version
ltmain.sh (GNU libtool) 1.5.22 (1.1220.2.365
2005/12/18 22:14:06) [cut]

$ gcc --version
gcc (GCC) 3.3.4 [cut]

$ ld --version
GNU ld version 2.15.92.0.2 20040927 [cut]

configuration completes correctly, but during make of
bfd,
an error code is returned to make, without any message
on standard error.

I attach the full compilation log in plaintext.
