Good point. Yes, these are different - albeit related - issues:
* In a specific document or documentation, do we want gender-neutral
speak?
* IF we want gender-neutral speak, what is the English grammar element
that works best?
Here, it's futile to discuss the second question, since the answer to
the first question is already "no".
I mean, French users are being slightly put off by documentation that is
not in French. It would be more inclusive if we had French documentation
for the French users and for the Canadian users in Quebec. But wait...: Do
they read the documentation, despite it's in English? For the most part, yes.
So, we don't have to translate the English documentation into French.
