The most efficient, cost-effective and versatile heating element on the market
GlobarŪ ceramic silicon carbide (SiC) electric heating elements are designed for high temperature (1800°F to 3000°F) thermal processing applications - for use in furnaces or kilns, as a radiant heat source.

As the most efficient, cost-effective and versatile heating element on the market, Globar elements are used in many types of industrial furnaces.

Since there are no standard sizes and shapes of the products being heated, and no standard dimensions or wattages in furnace designs, Globar elements are available in a wide variety of sizes and geometries - customized to meet your specific product, process and furnace criteria.

Advantages of Globar SiC Electric Heating Elements

  • Economical, dependable, clean, quiet and safe
  • No fuel availability or storage problems
  • No noxious fuel exhaust to be ducted away
  • Efficiently handle a wide range of products and atmospheres
  • Elements that operate at 600°F up to 3000°F
  • One of the highest hot:cold ratios in the industry

Standard Elements
Type Range Features/Benefits
LL To 2800°F 3-piece construction for improved hot:cold ratio
SG To 3000°F 1-piece construction for higher temperatures
SGR To 3000°F Single end termination for limited space environments
CRL To 2800°F 3-piece construction for corrosive environments
UX   Single end termination for lower voltage than SGR type
3-Phase   Single end termination for balanced 3-phase element load

Mounting Versatility
Globar elements may be mounted horizontally or vertically inside the furnace chamber to surround the product being heated. They are terminated by replaceable straps and clamps available from Kanthal Globar which connect the element (outside the furnace wall) to the variable voltage power supply.

Kanthal Globar offers SilitŪ electric resistance heat elements constructed from self-bonded silicon carbide (SiC), dense and fine-grained for excellent chemical resistance. By application of a protective coating, the chemical resistance can be made even better.

Typical Applications

SilitŪ heating elements are ideal for process temperatures up to 1600°C in oxidizing atmospheres or inert gases. In process atmospheres or vacuum, the maximum possible furnace temperature depends on the specific conditions of the application.

  • Float Glass three phase applications
  • Heating, melting and holding of metals
  • Sintering
  • Glass and ceramic industries
  • Analytical laboratory applications
  • Electrical and electronic industries
  • Dental technology
  • Infrared reactors

A Variety of Configurations
Almost all configurations of SilitŪ heating elements can be installed cantilever horizontally as well as suspended. This makes it possible for the user to optimize the furnace design. Three Phase Float Glass elements are also available.
